In London, a BBC executive is getting sue by a Christian activist over the issue of playing movie by Jerry Springer. Jerry Springer made a show called Jerry Springer-The Opera. It is a musical theme show and many Chrisitians doesn't like this movie. They found it offensive especially the Christian activist that want to prosecute the BBC executive. The Christian activist plan to use blasphemy laws to prosecute him. Blasphemy laws are used in the United Kingdom and was defined as "the legal notion that goes back centuries - as faith was seen as being the heart of society, to challenge or offend it was thought to threaten the fabric of society." Also, blasphemy is defined as the defamation of a religion.
Christians are angry at Jerry Springer because his show depicted "Jesus being referred to as "a little bit gay" and features Eve attempting to fondle his genitals." Also, Eve was mentioned as a pole dancer and Adam referred to as a member of the Ku Klux Klan. There were demonstrations too about this particular issue. An opponent of the issue said that these blasphemy laws shouldn't be used because its a long time ago, in 1922 which resulted in a man going to prison for disgracing Jesus Christ as a circus clown. Now, it is being use once again which is not right since it have to do with religion and not court laws. One spokeman said that the show is that of a satire of Islam, but if it was for Christianity, then it would never have been aired.
